About Locally Atchison - Main Street

Locally Atchison - Main Street is a designated Kansas Main Street community, part of a national movement to revitalize historic downtown districts across America.

Working closely with the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce, we coordinate events, support downtown businesses, and implement projects that make downtown Atchison a great place to live, work, and visit.

Our Programs Include:

Launch your business downtown, with the rent help to get started.

The Locally Atchison Business Incubator gives new and emerging businesses affordable retail or office space, mentorship, and business-development support, so you can open your doors, build a customer base, and grow into a permanent home in Atchison.

18-month rent stair-step

Locally Atchison's share of your rent steps down as your business grows.

  1. 100%covered
    Months 1–6 You pay 0%
  2. 50%covered
    Months 7–12 You pay 50%
  3. 25%covered
    Months 13–18 You pay 75%

Percentages are Locally Atchison's share of the rent. The graduated structure lowers startup risk while preparing your business for long-term sustainability.

How it works

  1. Apply

    Submit the incubator application with your business plan, cash-flow projection, and personal financial statements.

  2. Selection

    A committee of Locally Atchison, economic development partners, and local business leaders reviews viability, community impact, market demand, and readiness.

  3. Launch

    Open in a designated Locally Atchison incubator space, arranged with local commercial landlords, with rent support from day one.

  4. Graduate

    After 18 months, sign a lease with your current landlord or another commercial landlord in Atchison County.

Program requirements

  • Keep regular operating business hours.
  • Take part in business development counseling through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) or Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation (NEKEF).
  • Maintain a professional storefront that adds to the vibrancy of downtown.
  • Join in Locally Atchison marketing and promotions.

Every participant gets ongoing guidance from our partners: professional advising, business planning, financial guidance, and growth strategy.

Locally Atchison Common Consumption Area

Enjoy a drink from a participating downtown establishment while you stroll the district. Look for the sponsoring and participating business stickers to see where CCA is accepted.

Hours of Operation 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM daily

Rules & Regulations

  • Alcoholic beverages must be purchased from a participating licensed establishment.
  • Beverages must remain in an approved CCA cup.
  • Alcoholic beverages may not be brought into the CCA from outside sources.
  • Alcoholic beverages may not be taken outside the designated CCA boundaries.
  • Please dispose of cups properly.
  • All state and local alcohol laws remain in effect.
