.: The Grand Finalé
Following two days of activities and excitement, there's no better place let it all sink in than Atchison's beautiful Riverfront Park. The area is full of history and scenery, with its location on the Missouri River, just upriver from the historic Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge. It was here that Atchison gained fame as the staging point for Westward migration in the late 1800s.
On Saturday, July 17, bring your lawnchairs, stake out a nice spot near the Lewis & Clark Pavilion and take in the sights. Commercial Street will be loaded with food and beverage vendors, while bands jam on the pavilion. As if that wasn't enough, you can watch spectacular aerobatic performances over the river while you listen to the music.
This festival really ends with a bang — literally. Paul Austin of Stellar Fireworks, Inc., a world-reknowned production company from Wichita, will present "A Concert in the Sky" to put the finishing touches on the 14th annual Amelia Earhart Festival. The show, orchestrated to music, draws thousands of visitors from across the Midwest for one reason: It's the best fireworks show you'll ever see.
