.: Ever Inspiring
This year marks the 75th anniversary of several of Amelia Earhart's many pioneering moments. In January, 1935, the famed aviatrix became the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California. In April, she made the first solo flight from Los Angeles to Mexico City. Less than a month later, she became the first person to fly solo from Mexico City to Newark.
Earhart was born 113 years ago and spent most of her childhood in Atchison, Kansas. On June 1, 1937, Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan took off from Miami to attempt a circumnavigational flight. After stops on three continents and with 7,000 miles to go, they vanished over the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the great mysteries of our time, and both Earhart's story and her pioneering spirit have captivated and inspired millions to reach for new heights.
