Atchison Hospital is a fully accredited non profit 96 bed licensed hospital. Atchison Hospital was founded in 1912 by a group of dedicated local citizens, and remains locally governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Atchison is a full service hospital with an active medical staff of 22 physicians and more than 50 consulting and specialty doctors. The hospital offers a full range of care including Obstetrics, ICU, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, 24 hour Emergency Room and Ambulance Service, Radiology, CT, MRI, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, Home Health, Hospice, and a Cardiology Center with five day / week cardiac care clinic with Board Certified Cardiologists.

Nursing facilities in Atchison include the 80-bed Medicalodge and Atchison Senior Village, which is owned and operated by Atchison County. Vintage Park and the Gran Villas are two assisted-living options.
